Co-Founder

Niteesh Elias

Niteesh is a listening artist and organizational consultant whose work centers listening as a generative force for connection, insight, and collective possibility.

For over two decades, he has led human-centered innovation within Fortune 100 organizations including Honeywell, working across aerospace, sustainable energy, advanced manufacturing, HR, and digital transformation. He has designed award-winning products and guided global teams, bringing systems thinking, psychology, and deep listening into complex institutional environments.

Alongside this work, Niteesh’s artistic practice is rooted in his Indian Indigenous Gond heritage, where song, story, and collective presence are central cultural forms, and where Gond Pardhans are traveling storytellers. Responding to the erosion of shared civic rituals and growing social isolation, his art focuses on creating the conditions for communal listening, bridging literary arts, history, and multicultural storytelling to foster presence, belonging, and care.

Niteesh holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Bombay and completed executive studies in Business Innovation at HEC Paris. He is a certified Blackblot Product Management Professional and an active civic leader, serving on the boards of Queen City Robotics Alliance, Arts+, and One Voice Chorus.

Brooke Shaffner

Generative listening and narrative design are at the heart of Brooke’s work as a writer, educator, and editor. She is the award-winning author of Country of Under (Split/Lip Press, 2024), a novel that grew out of her coming-of-age in a bicultural family on the Texas-Mexico border, and is currently at work on a hybrid memoir that blends personal history with collective healing. With a Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction writing from Columbia University, where she was a Dean’s Fellow, and a BA in English from Davidson College, where she won the Charles Lloyd Writing Award, Brooke has taught writing at universities, K-12 schools, and community organizations. With over two decades of experience, she mentors individuals to tell the stories that scare, challenge, and transform them.

At Listening Labs, she integrates her background in storytelling with practices of generative listening to help leaders surface hidden narratives, connect across difference, and create cultures of possibility. Beyond her writing and consulting, Brooke is an active community builder in Charlotte’s arts and literary ecosystem, where she collaborates with organizations, leads workshops, and champions the role of story in social change.

Reon Ogawa

Reon is a sophomore at Davidson College in North Carolina, majoring in Psychology and Sociology. Born in Kochi, Japan, Reon lived there until the age of eight before moving to Diboll, a small town in Texas. Navigating new cultures and languages at a young age shaped a deep appreciation for empathy, resilience, and community—values that continue to guide Reon through their own transition into college life.

At Davidson, Reon co-founded the Japanese Student Association alongside a roommate and fellow Japanese students, creating a space for cultural connection and mutual support on campus. Reon also volunteers weekly at the Ada Jenkins Center’s Nourish Up Pantry, which provides food and essential supplies to families in need.

Through these experiences, Reon has developed a strong commitment to helping others navigate change and find a sense of belonging. Reon hopes to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and work with teens, supporting them in understanding themselves and building confidence during times of transition. Outside of academics and community work, Reon enjoys playing basketball, discovering new music, enjoying good food, and creating art.
